🎊Coach Pistrang is retiring at the end of this season. As you may know, Larry has been the coach of our TPS Cross Country and Track and Field teams, as well as basketball for the last 25 years. Please see the following note from his daughter, as we plan his retirement celebration! 

My name is Molly Pistrang, and I am one of Coach Larry Pistrang's daughters. I am writing because Coach Pistrang is retiring after 25 years of coaching basketball, track, and cross-country at Thomas Prince School. A few parents of current athletes have planned a celebration to honor Coach Pistrang (Thank you, Justins). This will be held at Thomas Prince on Friday, June 6 from 4-6PM. We would love for as many current/former athletes, families, and coaches to attend as possible, so please spread the word. 

We are creating a digital scrapbook and I am trying to compile as many former and current athlete, parent/guardian, and colleague/coach perspectives as I can. You have been part of my father's coaching journey and I know it would mean a lot to see a message from you. Please fill out this form to RSVP and share anecdotes for the digital scrapbook.  Please send or share this with anyone else who you think might want to share about their experience with Coach Pistrang over the years.

📱On Thursday afternoon, the Central Office sent out a communication about dangerous social media trends.  In case you didn't get it, I wanted to share it with you here.  These are trends that are in fact occurring, so please chat with your student(s) about it.  I appreciate it!

Dear Families,

We want to make you aware of two recent social media trends that are encouraging dangerous and damaging behavior.

One “challenge” involves inserting various metallic objects into electrical outlets.  It goes without saying that this could lead to significant injury.  We sincerely hope that none of our students make the mistake of attempting this.

Another popular “challenge” persuades students to insert metal objects into the ports on their school-issued Chromebooks.  In many school districts, including ours, this has already led to significant equipment damage, usually caused by overheating and even fire.  Beyond concerns about damaging school property, this is also a serious safety risk.

We ask for your partnership in preventing these actions. Please speak with your children about avoiding electrical hazards and respecting school property.  Please also remind them that intentionally damaging school equipment is a serious matter that can carry disciplinary and financial consequences.

As always, we appreciate your support in helping students use technology safely and responsibly.

Mid Summer!

I hope you are all having a wonderful summer! We are excited to have the kids back...just not yet. We still have some work to do. However, I wanted to put several things on your radars.  We have scheduled our annual  Popsicles on the Playground for   August 23rd from 4:00-6:00. I'm crossing my fingers and toes that the weather cooperates and we can actually have the event on the playground. I'm 0 for 2 so far in my tenure here! This event is hosted by the PTA and is an opportunity for all students to get reacclimated to the building and new students to get some nerves out and possibly make some new friends. This is also an opportunity to pick up new t-shirts. Use this link and order by August 14th to get them in time. Fun full steam ahead!

As we wind down the month of October, next week promises to be a ton of fun! The Student Council has planned a Spirit Week for next week culminating with the MS Dance Friday night. The whole school is invited to participate in Spirit Week but the dance is only for Middle Schoolers. Remember that Thursday will feature a short Costume Parade at 9:00. Friday will have the students participating in the PTA Viking Challenge during their specials.  The week's themes:  Monday- Pajama Day Tuesday - Mix and Match Day Wednesday - Sports Jersey Day  Thursday - Costume Day  Friday - Color Wars Day  8th: Red 7th: Green 6th: Black 5th: Blue  4th: Yellow 3rd: Orange 2nd: White 1st: Purple K: Gray Staff: Pink I have had many communications and conversations since my email on Tuesday. One Week Countdown

Just over a week to go and I wanted to get this on the top of everyone's emails! A few notes below, a link to the last communication with full details, and here is the link for 5th-8th grade music sign-ups.  Come join us on Friday for Popsicles on the Playground from 4:00-6:00! The weather just might cooperate this year! Library volunteers:  Our TPS Library volunteer crew is getting ready to open the library on the first day of school! Beginning on Day 1, children who arrive between 8:00 and 8:30 are invited to spend time in the Library checking out books, playing games, or hanging out with friends. We can't wait to see them! We are also welcoming new volunteers to our library crew! Our volunteers read to classes when they visit the library, help students check books out, and keep our library organized and beautiful.
