All the news!

Parents of 4th graders already know this but I wanted to share it with the school community. Mrs. Jensen-Fellows resigned her position earlier this month and we immediately began a search for her replacement. I am very happy to share that MaryAnn Hawkridge has accepted the position. The timing couldn't have been better as she completed our Long Term Substitute position in 2nd grade on Monday. MaryAnn has extensive experience teaching and most recently as support staff over at Davis Hill. We feel lucky to have her! If you see her, be sure to say "hi."  Last call for Acceleration Academy: The Wachusett District is pleased to be able to offer your students in grades 3-8 a chance to participate in the Math Acceleration Academy during the upcoming April Break, funded through DESE’s Math Acceleration Grant. This program will run 4 days from April 16th-19th from 8:00 am-2:00 pm.  Students will participate in activities that provide engaging, hands-on math lessons to promote math

Fun Friday!

It was a fun week at TPS with the book fair, play, and spirit week! It was too much to share in words so here are a few pictures from Spirit Week with many more on the Instagram account!  The staff supported the cause with door decorating and by dressing up as some of their favorite book characters. We made it a little competitive and the PTA donated Book Fair gift certificates for the winners. 2nd grade took the door competition with their "Wild Robot" (pictured). I still think my "Clifford the Big Red Dog" door was underappreciated. The 5th grade team took the honors with an iconic rendition of Jack and the Giant from "Jack and the Beanstalk" (not pictured). All in all, a fun week at TPS!   I'd like to thank Mrs. Holwell and Mr. Nichols for their work with the middle schoolers on "The Enchanted Book Store." These productions are a huge commitment but the result was spectacular! Last night's opening was great and I'm looking forward

All the things!

The Middle School started the week off with a special presentation from Mr. John Frost. He travels the world witnessing and documenting eclipses. He shared his passion with the Middle Schoolers and explained the coming eclipse to them. The kids left excited about this upcoming phenomenon! Just a reminder that April 8th is a school day.  The bus company has asked me to remind parents that any balls transported on the bus should be tucked into backpacks before boarding. Apparently, there have been some issues with loose balls rolling around buses and this can be a safety hazard. Thanks for your attention to this matter.  As you may know, our courtyards are maintained by volunteers. They are due up for their spring cleanup . Ms. Santello will be leading a group of volunteers to tackle the Bangrazi courtyard on Saturday, April 6th from 9:00-2:00. Help clean up the raised garden beds, rake leaves, weed, and plant. Snacks and coffee provided. Contact Ms. Santello at elaine_santello@wrsd.net

Read here often?

Every once in a while, certain weeks these communications take on a theme. I found myself reflecting on literacy this week.  I want to start off the communication much like we started off the week, by recognizing our wonderful Community Readers and our amazing library volunteers, Mrs. Abady and Mrs. Trowbridge, who brought the day together. If for some reason your students didn't come home Monday talking about their guest, every classroom or grade level had a community member join them Monday morning. Each guest shared their passions within the community as well as celebrated literacy with a story. As I walked around, I saw students enthralled. I often find that outside guests bring a certain gravity to a discussion and seeing so many people take time out of their day to read to our children was wonderful. We are lucky to be a part of such a supportive community.  We followed up Community Reader Day with a full-day professional development day. All of our  elementary school teacher

Leaping into March!

Mrs. Dolat is at it again this month with her reading challenge. Check out the electronic folder for the March reading challenge as well as the MS challenge!  TPS Reading Challenge Update from Mrd. D We had 88 students from K-5 participate in the challenge for the month of February! That is a total of 264 books read by K-5 students just for the challenge!  In Middle School, we had 7 students participate and they read a total of 9 great books! While I'd love to see more 6-8th graders participating, it's great to have some middle schoolers reading with me this month!  Participation prizes for February will be distributed next week. The K-5 monthly raffle winner for the month is Parker Bottomley & the raffle winner for middle school is Brynn Cranson. Their prizes will be given out next week as well! A big shout out to the PTA for providing the prizes! Looking ahead to March, the new forms will be passed out to students next week. K-5 students are encouraged to read books about
